How to start a DM with a WhatsApp user, from Slack?

WhatsApp

Resume an existing WhatsApp conversation from Slack by syncing it with Sync Conversations.

convly doesn't let you initiate a brand-new DM with a WhatsApp user you've never spoken to before. You can, however, resume any WhatsApp conversation that already exists and sync it to Slack.

To do this:

  1. Open the convly app, go to the Accounts tab, and click Edit next to your WhatsApp account.
  2. Click Sync Conversations.
  3. Search for the WhatsApp user you'd like to reconnect with by name or by phone number (include the international prefix, e.g. +XX, where XX is the country code).
  4. Once you've found them, click Sync.

convly automatically creates a new Slack channel named dm-username. Any message you type in that channel is delivered straight to the WhatsApp user.
